DIET AND NUTRITION

“Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food.” ~Hippocrates

green-red-apples.jpgSaying that “food is the best medicine” is a cornerstone of naturopathic practice. Many medical conditions can be treated more effectively with foods and nutritional supplements than they can by other means with fewer complications and side effects.

You really are what you eat.  The quality, type, and amount of food you put into your body is critical for your health.  When we eat clean, healthy, and nourishing foods, our body systems work smoothly and efficiently. For example, our brains get the essential fats they need, our muscles get the minerals they need, and our glands get the vitamins they need.  On the other hand, when we eat highly refined and processed foods, our body draws from its nutritional reserves and over time becomes depleted; this sets the stage for chronic disease.

At Lewis Family Natural Health, we utilize nutritional solutions with many of our patients, whether it is to help them lose or gain weight, lower their cholesterol, achieve more energy, or to manage a specific disease state.  We may use specific diets, fasting or detoxification diets, and dietary supplements as a means to safely address many acute and chronic diseases and help your body heal from within.

In addition, we educate our patients to select healthier dietary choices as preventative measures. We also offer a very effective weight loss programs that teach you how to eat real foods in appropriate ways in order to lose weight and keep it off.
